Catholic Women in Action (CWC)

  • President, Debbie Lazorik, opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. 
  • Secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for June was approved. 
  • Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie for June was approved. 
  • The money paid for Father Mark’s lunch bill be reimbursed.
  • The Downtown bargain store is having a sale on toys.  Janet Steinel and Judy McCoy are going to use the money from the outreach fund to purchase toys for Box of Joy.
  • Sunshine report – cards will be sent to Pete Saliba’s family.
  • Book club will meet on July 22.  The book for July is “When we Meet Again” by Kristin Harmel.
  • Outreach committee – 500 rosaries were sent to Cross Catholic.
  • Janet and Barb worked their first Daily Bread Kitchen as leaders.  They are requesting donations of pasta and apple sauce.
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • VBS – July 13-16, 9:00 – 12:00.  Need 10 to 12 volunteers for Arts & Crafts, Drama, Music and Games.  Contact Elizabeth Tokodi to help.  Boards are set up with donation requests.  $200 was approved as a donation to VBS from CWA.
  • Bingo – we have been asked to work a Sunday bingo in October as a fund raiser.  We will need 8 to 10 people.
  • Kitchen renovations – Judy purchased coffee carafes and water pitchers for the kitchen.  It was suggested that kitchen volunteers wear hair nets when working with food.
  • COR model – we are looking into setting up a women’s group, similar to the one the KofC uses.  We are checkng if there are any resources available.
  • Parish picnic – Jill discussed some details for this year’s picnic.
  • New flyer with QR code
  • The church will pay for chicken and ham.
  • We will ask Teresa about donations of plates, bowls, napkins, tableware.
  • Saturday we will set up and clean tables.  Kristal will be in charge of table decorations.  Sunday at 3:00 we will do final set ups.  Nancy and Carol will be available to receive the chicken during the mass time.

Janet  Schilling suggested we look into offering a catered meal for funerals.  We will look into pricing at IGA for ham, potatoes and beans.

The meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting will be August 5.
