First Communion The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption celebrates First Communion for students in 2nd grade.

First Reconciliation Students receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time prior to their reception of First Communion in 2nd grade.

Reconciliation (Confession) Confessions are heard 3:30-5:00 PM each Saturday.  The confessionals in the basilica offer the option of either anonymous confession (by kneeling behind the screen just inside the door) or face-to-face confession (by walking past the screen and sitting in chair provided). Parish Penance Services are held in Advent and Lent with several visiting priests present to hear confessions. Those wishing to schedule an appointment for confessions at different times should contact the rectory. Guide to Confession.

Confirmation The Sacrament of Confirmation is held every other year for primarily 7th and 8th grade students. A comprehensive preparation program is offered at Saint Mary Basilica, which includes regular religious education classes, monthly sessions with candidates and sponsors, Christian service and journal reflections. (Click here for more information.)Adults or other high school students who have not been confirmed yet may prepare for the Sacrament through the RCIA program. Contact the parish office for more information.

RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults begins in September with classes held each Monday evening through May. (To learn more, or listen to RCIA audio files, click here.)

Marriage Please contact the Parish Office at least six months in advance. Marriage preparation includes a Pre-Cana or Engaged Encounter course, a preparation meeting with one of the priests and a wedding preparation meeting with the music director.
