- President, Debbie Lazorik, opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. A special prayer was said for Father Mark, who died earlier this day.
- Secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for April was approved.
- Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie for April was approved.
- Sunshine report – there was a question whether a card had been sent to Bonnie Offenberger. A card will be sent to Father Mark’s family.
- Book club will meet on June 24. The book this month is Someday Home. Thank you to whoever made the nice sign in the library denoting our book club shelf.
- Outreach committee – we need 19 more rosaries to meet the 500 goal, so that Cross Catholic will pay for the postage.
- The May crowning went very well. It was nice to have the young ladies process in with the flowers. Father Edward has asked that the flowers not be brought to the rectory as he is allergic to them. They will be taken to nursing homes or given to those who wish to take them home.
- The reception for the seminarians was well attended. Over 500 attended. The diocese said it was well organized.
- Kitchen renovations – Over $1100 has been collected for the kitchen renovations. Barb Ritchie donated a set of knives. We are looking to purchase coffee carafes, water pitchers and a tea kettle.
- The Little Saints youth group met on Thursday, May 28. They had at least 30 children attend. They watched a video, did bible study, worked on crafts and had a snack. It is for Pre-K through 1st grade, but older kids can attend to help.
- 4 or 5 women from our parish attended the CWC convention. We sent a basket, a list of our activities and a list of those women who have died in the past year.
- We’ve been informed that VBS will take place July 13-16.
- We are putting off any bus trips until the fall.
- Parish picnic – Jill wrote up a bulletin announcement to save the date for the parish picnic. More plans will be discussed at future meetings.
- Father Emmanuel is scheduled to come back on June 19.
- Carol Miller announced that on July 5, from 1-3, we will say the rosary at the pavilion in Muskingum Park. It is in honor of the 250th birthday of our country. The K of C is sponsoring it. Janet Steinel will make a handout for the bulletin.
- Debbie thanked Linda McMichel for all her years leading the Daily Bread Kitchen. Janet Steinel and Barb Ritchie will begin leading it at the beginning of July.
- Janet mentioned that we need new signage in the church for the gift shop, rest rooms, library and entrances to the church. Debbie will ask Justin Papania from Sir Speedy to help design signs.
The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be July 1.
Respectfully submitted,
