Thank you for your generous support of our parish in the past. God has entrusted us with the care and maintenance of this magnificent basilica and we have the honor to help maintain and improve it.
As you likely know by now, the Basilica of St Mary of the Assumption needs a new roof. The current asphalt shingle roof was installed in 1992, so it is over 30 years old. Many shingles are missing, and we have been repairing leaks for quite some time. We have spent over $70,000 on leak repairs in recent years.

As a congregation, we spent $4.5 million on the renovation in 2016.
We cannot put this beautiful renovation at risk with a leaking roof.

We have secured three bids to replace the shingles with a copper roof that has an estimated 50-year life, replace the built-in gutters, and upgrade the lightning protection system. The low bidder was local contractor Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal from Davisville (Parkersburg) WV. This is a complex and dangerous project and Tri-State has extensive experience with church and historical roofing/architectural sheet metal projects of this magnitude. The approved budget for the project is $1,825,000. Work will start in March, however, we need to order and purchase materials now to ensure inflationary pressure does not further increase the cost of materials.

Through the monthly Sunday building maintenance collections and pre-drive donations, we have raised nearly $500,000, but we still need to raise $1,325,000.

Thank you for your interest in helping to maintain our historic basilica, we hope that you will be as generous as possible.
