• The meeting was called to order by President Debbie Lazorik with prayer and the pledge of allegiance
  • The secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for April was approved
  • Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie was approved
  • Debbie clarified how we collect money for pilgrimage lunches and funeral lunches.  The pilgrimage lunches are $10 per person.  Funeral lunches are not charged anything but donations are accepted.  Currently, if asked, we suggest $5 per person.
  • Barb noted that the price of the pilgrimage lunches has been raised to $12 per person.
  • Sunshine Report
  • Book club – the next meeting will be Wednesday, June 26.  June’s book is “Finding Grace”.  Anyone who hears of a book that would be good for a book club can send the information to Debbie or Nancy.
  • Outreach Committee
  • We have decided not to hold any special events during the summer due to the need to raise more money for the roof.
  • Father Mike has approved the Boxes for Joy program for this year.
  • Update from the DCCW convention participants.  7 attended from St. Mary’s. The neighboring churches also had good attendance.  A list of St. Mary’s accomplishments this past year was included in the packets that were given to the participants.  Cheryl Nau suggested putting the list in the bulletin so people are aware of all that CWA does.
  • The KofC has requested women from CWA lead the rosary before the masses on June 30.
  • The Fall festival will be held on October 27.  The theme this year is Oktoberfest.  The focus will be on Sunday.  The CWA has been requested to make the dinner.  We agreed to host the dinner.  Various suggestions were given for the menu.  It was decided to go with the Oktoberfest theme with bratwurst, sauerkraut, chicken, hot dogs and hot German potato salad.  Teresa Domico had mentioned that they are considering setting up a beer garden on the school playground.  Nancy Matheny suggested merchants be approached to donate the beer.   Debbie will put together a plan for organizing the meal.
  • Debbie questioned whether we should add a spring event to our Calendar of Events.  It was suggested doing a sub sale for the Super Bowl.
  • Fall day bus trip.  Nancy Matheny offered to help organize it.  We will sponsor it but it will be open to the whole parish and others.  Different destinations were discussed including Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cleveland.  Most were interested in a Columbus trip to the Museum of Catholic Art and History.  Nancy Matheny will look into the logistics.  We are looking at Thursday, September 19.
  • Debbie requested ideas for social events to be added to the meetings.  Some felt that it should be small social additions rather than larger organized events with outside leaders.
  • Linda McMichael suggested we host a game night.  Nothing was settled yet.

The meeting was adjourned.  Next meeting will be July 10 since the 1st Wednesday would be July 3rd.

Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Funk
