- President Debbie Lazorik opened the meeting with the pledge of Allegiance.
- Father Edward gave the opening prayer.
- Secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for August was approved
- Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie was approved.
- Sunshine Report – a thinking of you card will be sent to Joanne King as she deals with her husband’s illness
- Book club – the next meeting will be Wednesday, September 25. The September book is “A Lineage of Grace”. We will be reading the first two stories about Tamar and Rahab.
- Outreach committee
- The Box of Joy collections is on schedule to start on October 5. We will be making boxes on September 26.
- A tour group will be coming in on October 3. If anyone wants to help, contact Janet Steinel.
- The Cookie Walk will be held on December 14 and 15. This year we are including the 5:30 mass. The proceeds will go to benefit the Daily Bread Kitchen.
- We will hold a paper product drive in April.
- The Red Cross blood drive will be held on March 10 from 11-5. This was the first open date we could get. Volunteers will be needed.
- Linda McMichael presented information on the Immaculata retreat on November 15 and 16 at St. Bernards parish in Beverly. Contact Linda at 740-525-3532 if you want to attend.
- Father Edward agreed to lead a Bible Study on the Gospel of Luke. It was decided to hold a monthly study on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 6-7 beginning October 16. It will be called the Basilica Bible Study.
- The Fall festival will be held on October 27. We will serve the Octoberfest menu from 1-5. Teresa will set up a schedule for volunteers once they determine how many are needed for each time slot.
- The Columbus bus trip scheduled for September 19 is set. 7th and 8th grade students from St. Mary’s will be attending with 4 adult chaperones and 18-20 other adults.
- We discussed the need for a more elaborate tri-fold poster promoting the CWA. A couple of people were mentioned to approach for designing.
- Sarah Laskowski reminded everyone that on October 12, we will be saying the rosary at the armory. This is in unity with America Meets Fatima and the end of the Rosary Congress.
- Teresa has set up an activity for the November meeting. It will be sour dough process making. The first half hour will be for making the sour dough and the second half hour will be the business portion of the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be October 2.
