  • President Debbie Lazorik opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and with prayer.
  • Secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for July was approved.
  • Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie for July was approved.
  • Barb reminded everyone that if you are picking up food from Huck’s for a funeral or other church dinner, do not pay for it.  Barb will go in to pay.
  • Sunshine report cards were sent to Linda Baumgard, Jennifer Simmons, Fr. Mike and Fr. Dale.
  • Book club –  The August book will be The Why Cafe.  The next book club meeting is August 27.
  • Outreach committee – the goal for the detergent collection was 8000 but we ended up with 10,015.  These went to the Gospel Mission, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and the Marietta food bank.
  • The Box of Joy project is next.  We will make 500 boxes on September 25 at 6:00.
  • No one has signed up for the bus trip yet.  If there are not 30 by August 31, the trip will be canceled.  We need to repost it on the Church’s Facebook page.  Also, we should make personal invitations and perhaps ask the priests to announce it.
  • Kitchen update.  Currently, we have 3 bids from Gillards, Brett Rauch and Adam Smith.   The next step will be to go to the Finance Committee to ask for their commitment.  Debbie will reach out to the finance chairman.
  • Nancy Funk requested volunteers for after the 10:00 masses on donut Sundays, which are the 1st Sunday of the month.  Jennie Strahler and Patti Ionna volunteered to help Sue Lambert.  8:00 is generally covered by Nancy, Linda McMichael, Betty Stollar, and sometimes Nancy Matheny and Janet Bond.
  • Volunteer opportunities coming up:
  • August 16 – KofC will hold their installation after the 5:30 mass.  Dinner will be catered.  They request we set up tables and drinks and get drinks out after mass.
  • September 11 – Giving Society will meet with the bishop.  This will be an elegant reception and will be catered by Cornerstone.  Mass is at 5:00.  Set up will begin at 4:00 for tables, drinks, and wine glasses.  Joe Schmidt is in charge.
  • November 9 – The Marriage Mass will occur at the 12:00 Mass.  A reception with cookies and drinks will follow the mass.  Set up is at 11:00.
  • Parish picnic – most of the planning is done.  It is will take place on September 28.  Mass will be a 4:00 with a potluck dinner starting at 5:00.  The main course will be chicken from IGA and ham from Hucks.  The church will provide plates, chips, silverware and drinks.  Ann Marie created a gift basket for a door prize.  The drawing for the Oktoberfest raffle will be held at 6:00.  A handout with the suggestions for sides by last names is available.  Reservations can be made in 3 different ways:  Scan the QR code on the handout, call Debbie Lazorik or return the bottom of the handout in the church collection.  Concern about the condition of the building was brought up.  There will be a cleaning party on Saturday, September 27 at 10:00 to clean and set up tables and chairs.  Also, we will need helpers to take down the tables after the potluck.  Suggestions to ask Marietta College students to help as part of their community service work, and the 5th graders preparing for Confirmation could help as part of their service hours.  It was discussed where to set up the table for Mass.  We will need a lector, server, cantor, and ushers for the mass.  Theresa will check on borrowing the portable sound system from the school.
  • Irene brought up that Father Emmanuel needs black cassocks and also a sick call kit for hospital visits.  Debbie moved for us to purchase these items for Father Emmanuel.  It was approved.  Irene will give him a card for his 10th anniversary as a priest and let him know what we have decided.
  • The next meeting will be September 3.

The meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Funk
