  • President Debbie Lazorik opened the meeting with the pledge of Allegiance.  Nancy Matheny opened with prayer.
  • Secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for February was approved
  • Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie for February was approved.  Thank you notes were acknowledged.  One was from Deacon Lee for his Christmas gift.  A second note from Carol Henshaw thanking us for the money from the cookie sale which went to the Daily Bread Kitchen.  It was also noted that donations from the envelopes doubled from the past years.  This was believed to be from the envelopes stapled to the handouts as well as the promotion of the CWA’s activities.
  • Sunshine report cards will be sent to the family of Karen Parlett, who passed away,y and to Meredith Dugaus whose mother is very sick.
  • Book club –  The April book is “The Prayer Box”.
  • Outreach committee
  • Update on the blood drive.  53 people were able to donate.  We have told the Red Cross that we would probably be willing to do it again next year.
  • We have begun selling tickets for the quilt raffle.  The quilts are hanging on the bannisters on both sides of the church.  The proceeds from the raffle will go to a fund for upgrading the kitchen.
  • In September, we would like to help with the coats for Kids drive.
  • Chrism Mass – Monday, April 14
    • We’ve been asked to help serve a luncheon to the seminarians – Lunch will be croissant sandwiches from Hucks, chips and water.
    • Mass is at 2:00
    • 4:00 will be a dinner for the priests – about 65 are expected.  Cornerstone in Beverly will cater it.  We are asked to help facilitate with set up and clean up
  • 2 funeral lunches have been deferred until later in April and May.
  • 14 attended the first movie night for Dorothy Day’s movie, Entertaining Angels. It was decided to hold movies quarterly.  The next movie will be in June.  We will look into movies geared to children.  There was a question about whether we need to have a permit to show movies to a general audience, even if we are not charging a fee.
  • Nancy Matheny checked into the cost for bus and theater for the trip to see “The Road to Damascus” at the Ohio Star Theater in Sugar Creek.  The bus will cost $1200, and theater tickets are $49.  Nancy will reserve the bus and tickets for October 4.  It was decided we would leave at 9:00, arriving there about 10:30.  This will leave time for shopping and lunch before the play at 1:00.
  • Kitchen upgrade.  Debbie will send out requests for volunteers to create a working group to decide what needs to be done in the kitchen.
  • Debbie reported that the new executive at the Betsy Mills club would like to meet with various groups in the community to promote the club. Father Edward will meet with her. It was suggested that we hold one of our regular meetings there.
  • Vacation Bible School is asking for volunteers for this summer.
  • It was noted that CCD teachers do not get any recognition.  We voted to give each a $15 gift card.

The meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting will be the May crowning, May 7th.

Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Funk
