Catholic Women in Action (CWC)
- Treasurer, Barb Ritchie, opened the meeting with the pledge of Allegiance and Father Edward led us with prayer.
- Secretary’s report by Nancy Funk for September was approved.
- Treasurer’s report by Barb Ritchie for September was approved.
- Sunshine report – cards were requested for Maribeth Browne.
- Book club – The October book is “If it Rains” by Jennifer L. Wright. The next book club meeting is October 22.
- Outreach committee –
- 500 boxes of Joy were made on September 25.
- No kitchen update. The Finance Committee changed its meeting date. Father Edward reiterated that we are not likely to get any help with this in the near future.
- There will be a reception on November 11 following the Marriage renewal mass.
- Reminder that the America Needs Fatima rosary will take place on October 11 at noon in front of the armory.
- October 19 will be the Walk for Life for the Women’s Care Center in Parkersburg.
- Parish picnic – all agreed that the picnic went well. The weather was wonderful and the turnout was good. Close to 200 attended. People liked the mass outside. Jill thanked everyone who helped. Left over chicken was given to the Daily Bread Kitchen. Suggestions for next year are to remind people to bring serving utensils with their dishes. And the tablecloths need to be taped down.
- We need a committee to nominate new officers. Officers need to write down descriptions of their responsibilities. We will be voting on new officers at the November meeting. Ann Marie Lowes volunteered to be on the committee.
- $150 for Boxes of Joy was approved.
- On Sunday, October 5, during Donut Sunday, we will celebrate Father Emmanuel’s arrival and say thank you to Deacon Lee on his retirement.
The next meeting will be November 5.
