Minutes of Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Women’s Club Meeting April 12, 2023

  • The meeting was called to order by President, Jennifer Tinkler, followed by an opening prayer by Laura Riley and the pledge of allegiance.
  • The secretary’s report was given by Laura Riley and approved as presented.
  • Tinkler presented treasurer’s report in M. Fouss’ absence. A balance of $5,728.52 was reported with $692 in the outreach committee budget line. The CWC deanery provided $100 donation to the Chrism mass reception, but it was not used as the cookies were donated. Motion was made by Judy McCoy to keep the $100 and seconded by Nancy Funk. Motion carried.
  • Sunshine report –please let Carol Antill know if you would like cards sent to any parishioners.
  • Book Club Update. Next meeting is April 26, and the book will be “The Fisherman’s Tomb”. Club continues to garner good attendance and participation.
  • Barbara Ritchie gave an update on the outreach committee’s efforts. Laundry and toiletry supplies are still coming in. Wonderful response and items were given to the Community Food Pantry and the Gospel Mission. The committee meets this week to decide what they would like to do next.
  • Donut Sundays resume on May 7th. Laura Riley will order the donuts and put an announcement in the weekly bulletin. Donuts will be provided after the 8 and 10 AM masses. Nancy Funk will help with 8 AM and Sue Lambert with 10 AM. Donations are welcome.
  • May Crowning, Wednesday, May 3 6 PM.
  • Music – Sue Lambert

  • Baskets – Sue L. and Barb Ritchie
  • Crown – Penny Rose
  • Announcement in the bulletin – Janet Steinel
  • Setup tables, etc. – Janet S., Penny R. and Barb R.
  • First Communion Retreat, April 29th 9 AM – 1 PM (Deb Coty). Ten children and four adults. Laura Riley will order pizza.
  • Confirmation Retreat, May 13th (Deb Coty). Not sure of number. Laura Riley will also order pizza.
  • Lunch tour groups – Janet Steinel. Boxed lunches will be provided. Proposed menu chicken salad croissants, potato or pasta salad, chips, cookie, and drink. Or could provide grilled chicken salad or ham salad with chips. Cost $10.

The meeting was adjourned. The next official meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, 2023, as the May meeting is May Crowning on the 3rd.
