Welcome

I am very happy to welcome you to our Basilica web page. We have been praying together, working together and rejoicing together since 1838 here in Marietta.
 
Parishioners of the past achieved a great deal, and we are called upon to achieve much for the parish and our community in the future. One of the greatest achievements, and one that we must constantly strive to build upon, is “family.” We must sincerely strive to be a “parish family” – loving one another and growing together in prayer and mutual support. The parish community is where the mission of Jesus Christ comes to life and continues day to day.
 
We have a beautiful renovated Basilica and an outstanding Catholic School; yet the parish is not buildings - the parish is first and foremost a people – a people called together by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our parish exists not for itself, but for the mission of Jesus Christ. The parish is called to teach, and witness the Gospel of Christ to our children, to those preparing for deeper Sacramental life, to those alienated from the Church and to those not active in the parish community.
 
All parishioners are called upon to recognize their individual talents and gifts and to use those talents and gifts in one or more of the many and various ministries of the parish for the building up of the Kingdom of God.  
 
As you browse this web site, the Basilica is here to serve you. You are most welcome here at the Basilica of St. Mary of  the Assumption. Your presence in the parish would give us yet another facet of the “Living Body of Christ.” May God bless you and give you the grace to feel very much at home here. BASILICA MISSION STATEMENT
The Eucharistic Catholic Community of Saint Mary of the Assumption Basilica loves Jesus Christ above all thins and our neighbor as ourselves. In our journey of Faith, our basilica family will be engaged and spiritually committed; fulfilling our vision through the values of the Gospel, prayer, fellowship, service, outreach and teaching.

Exploring the Catholic Faith
 

Are you interested in learning more about what Catholics believe? RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is designed to meet you where you are, and to walk with you on your journey of faith. Sessions take place on Mondays from 7-9 PM in the Basilica Social Hall. (Rear more here.)

 
 
Rosary Congress


In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady's appearances at Fatima, the Diocese of Steubenville will host a Rosary Congress at the Basilica from Oct 7-13. It will include 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration and praying the Rosary. (Read more here.)
 
 
 
St. Mary Catholic School
 

Founded in 1896, St. Mary Catholic School has a rich heritage of Catholic education. Students in grades Pre-K through 8th (including a Montessori Pre-School) receive a strong education rooted in Christian values. 
 

 
Fall Festival


The Fall Festival at St. Mary Catholic School will take place Sep 29 - Oct 1. It includes an Evening for Adults (Friday), Super Bingo (Saturday), and the Chicken Dinner (Sunday). Read more here.
